Abstract

This article uses Chat Everywhere as a case through which to examine how generative artificial intelligence platforms can automate parts of knowledge work while keeping consequential judgement under human responsibility. In this AI co-created article, the human author provided the case material, interview-based information, article objective, journal category, literature direction and critical editorial decisions. The AI system generated the main analytical interpretation, suggested conceptual connections and drafted the central discussion, after which the human author reviewed, edited and selected the final content. The case suggests that AI-supported learning platforms are not only educational tools. They are also examples of automated knowledge-work systems that redistribute repetitive cognitive tasks, such as first feedback, diagnostic analysis, meeting documentation and practice generation. The article argues that the value of these systems depends on three conditions: bounded automation, human review and organizational oversight. It also develops design-by-incentives as a practice principle for embedding verification inside the workflow. The article contributes to discussions on the automated economy by showing how an AI-supported learning platform can be interpreted as a site where automation, human judgement and governance are negotiated in practice.
